reached
clarke quey quite early and met
ys's maple to real life friend
hanzhong.. then we waited like 10
mins or so for uncle
sam, who was late, to bring us to
novotel.. met some new friends Benny and Benjamin..
benjamin is his real name but
benny is not his real name.. it will be explained later.. they went off to comb their hairs and followed uncle
sam to
novotel hotel..
we change our
ic for a pass and a name tag.. the name tag is a random name tag they use to make the guest feel respected.. i was given the name
clarence.. we ate a light dinner and went off to report ourselves to the managers.. the managers immediately
recognise us a newbies so his 1st
qns to us was " who got work be4 as a
waitor in a banquet"
none of us have experience..
nb and he start scolding around for being 1st timers.. he kicked the white board which allocates the names and so on.. and kept venting his anger on the white board since then.. ah
thiongs filled the whole place.. when we did not stand straight and ah
tiong will come and tell us..
anyways every1 working there is ah
thiong..
there was some
Singaporean look-a-like but once they open their mouth immediately u can tell they are ah
tiong.. there were 2 levels so we split into 2 groups.. i was allocated to a
pino named max.. we 2 served 4 tables.. his
English was damn
cui..
i dun even understand anything he said.. he was a sub manager so he had a lot of things to do.. i took out a lot of plates spoons and bowls.. i was scared it might drop so took it out in small
quantities..
an ah
tiong was teaching us on how to pour
chinese tea and serve.. she talked 15
mins on how to open a fish which can be said so easily in 3 easy steps.. 1st cut the center bone.. 2
ndly cut the tail.. 3
rdly cut between the head and the tail.. her
chinese was so foreign to us that
benny ben and i dun really quite understand.. but
benny told me that her
english was not bad..
the 4 tables were filled after some time.. 1) 20+ 2) the older generation 3) high post working adults 4) families with 3 babies.. every1 was very kind to me.. not much drink orders at the start.. other than some guy asking for beer.. after
gg out to take the beer i feel quite nauseous.. i hate beer's smell.. it makes me
wana puke.. but
anways i withstood it and went inside with it..
served red wine with coke and i
nearly spilled the coke.. but lucky i reacted fast enough.. it was 4 tables to 1 1/2 guy
coz the manager kept running
abt so
benny helped me re-fill
chinese tea for me.. while i change the plates.. every1 was damn smart i can tell u this.. there was lady quite well dressed and i overhead some of the
conversation.. she was saying.. i used to be a GP but now
im doin surgery
my mum told me this be4.. those who always attend functions will try to limit their orders as they want face and they tend to be more presentable.. those not so fortunate to have the chance to always attend function would always request for a lot of things..
there was this girl seated with her parents at the table of the adults.. she kept looking at me and said thank you with a smile whenever i poured
chinese tea or changing plates.. finally there is some1 in that ballroom that appreciates your work.. to add on to that i think every1 said thank you when i sered them drinks.... I FEEL GOOD.. there was this 1 person who asked me.. am i a
singaporean?
there was too many ah
tiongs and i think they know it too..
that's y they seem surprised that a local would do this job..
haha..
as it reached 11 we were chased off the ballroom and we washed up and changed and made our way to the
mrt stations.. took a taxi home with
ys since he can claim.. damn fun
